In response to an appeal by H-DOG to its supporters, local attorney, Avrum Rosen, a 20-year resident of Huntington and new found convert to the Coindre Hall experience with his young dog, Molly, has volunteered to set up the charitable organization that will raise money for the dog park at Coindre Hall.
Called Friends of Long Island Dog Parks, the organization will help develop and maintain dog parks on Long Island. The dog park at Coindre Hall will be its first major program.
Rosen has agreed to handle all the legal paperwork and costs associated with filing the documents needed to create the charitable organization. In explaining his reason for volunteering, Rosen said, while he has been going to Coindre Hall with his new dog, Molly, only since last fall, he had found it to be such a "wonderful, community" experience that he wanted to help protect the dog park.
The charitable organization is necessary as Suffolk County, which owns Coindre Hall, has vowed that the dog park will not cost the county money. The Town of Huntington has agreed to pick up some of the costs of developing and maintaining the dog park, but the charitable organization will be critical to making Coindre Hall the state of the art dog park we and our dogs want and deserve!
H-DOG received numerous offers of help from attorneys, accountants and many other dog owners who know and love the dog park at Coindre Hall. The response we got demonstrates once again the power of our organization and the idea behind it-the need for open space for us and our dogs.
Thank you so much to everyone who has volunteered their time and effort. We'll be counting on your help in the coming weeks and months!
