Allen Park Expansion Offers Opportunity for a New Dog Park
Flyer and Petition Now Available!

The Town of Oyster Bay is making plans for expanding Allen Park in Farmingdale. Among ideas for the 22-acre expansion are a community pool, more fields and walking trails. The site also would be GREAT for a new dog park! Why?

  • There’s plenty of space
  • Dog parks don’t cost a lot of money to build or maintain
  • There are many Oyster Bay families who own dogs and would love a place to meet friends and neighbors while their dogs get much-needed exercise
  • There are still no other places Oyster Bay dog owners can take their dogs for exercise except the streets, which are dangerous

At an Oct. 18th Town Board meeting, Supervisor John Venditto urged LI-DOG and our supporters to get involved in community meetings about the Allen Park expansion by making the case for a dog park in Farmingdale. These meetings are being planned now and LI-DOG will be notified when they are scheduled, he said. We’ll let everyone know as soon as we get the details.

What you can do now: Help LI-DOG work for a dog park in Farmingdale by downloading the flyer and the petition asking the Town to create a dog park for dog owners and their dogs on a portion of the 22-acre expansion of Allen Park. Please mail completed petitions to LI-DOG, P.O. Box 1171, Huntington, NY 11743. You can also let Supervisor Venditto and the Town Board know that the Allen Park expansion is a great place to build a dog park by calling 516/624-6350 or go to the Oyster Bay website at http://www.oysterbaytown.com/ and click on Contact Us on the right side of the homepage.
