Dog Owners Seek 2,000 Names on Petition for Hempstead Lake Dog Park!

Dog owners have banded together to petition the New York State Parks Dept. to create a fenced dog run in the area of Hempstead Lake Park that has traditionally been designated for dog walking. Currently, there is no off leash area in the 775-acre Park, most of which is prohibited to dogs altogether. The designated on-leash dog walk area has been periodically given over to other uses that have pushed dog owners from the only area they can walk their dogs in the park. The sponsors of the petition are looking for 2,000 New York State resident signatures. Please sign the petition, tell your family, friends and neighbors, and let officials know that New York State dog owners care about dog parks and vote!
