Names: Skeeter and Vanessa
Owned by: Dani Storemski
Skeeter, a rescue from Angels Rescue in Michigan, is truly my angel sent from God (I was kidnapped as a kid and it was Skeeter who helped me get past my fears from the incident). He’s eight years old and a Hound/Shepherd mix. My sister rescued Vanessa, a lab/pit mix, five years ago from the streets of Chicago. She had severe separation anxiety and after my sister tried everything she asked if I could take her (actually, she asked me to watch her for a weekend and that turned into 3 years!). Now, Vanessa and Skeeter are two peas in a pod and Vanessa’s separation anxiety is only a distant memory.
We moved to Mineola from Michigan three months ago, but it hasn’t taken us long to discover some of the great outdoors that Long Island offers. We hike and swim daily, trying to hike a different park at least once a week. Our favorites thus far are Sagamore Hill, Gardiner, and Blydenburgh. We have plans to hike every Suffolk County Park before winter hits and to take up kayaking.
We also like helping out LI-DOG and joining them in events. We’ve met some wonderful people and doggies through them.
The picture is at Gardiner Park with the Robert Moses Causeway Bridge behind us.
